Sandara Park returns to Philippines

Sandara Park came home to the Philippines, the country she grew up in since she was 11 years old, this past weekend: "Maraming lumapit sa akin, kinausap nila ako ‘tapos yung iba nagpa-picture pa. Kilala pa rin pala ako ng mga tao dito. Akala ko limot na nila ako," says Sandara Park about her arrival at the airport.

"Krung krung" made a special appearance on ASAP this past Sunday.

Sandy also stopped by The Buzz to talk.

Katrina Halili: "E, siyempre po, si Joross. Kasi mas palagi kong kasama...palagi kong ka-text, pero, friends lang po talaga, " says Katrina Halili when asked who between Joross Gamboa and Marvin Agustin has a better chance to date her.

Gabby Concepcion: "Hindi, kasi baka sabihin ginagamit. Hindi naman kung sinu-sino nga si KC, okay. Gusto ko, ako lang muna," replies Gabby Concepcion when asked why he doesn't have a duet with daughter KC Concepcion in his debut album.

KC Concepcion 'a.k.a. Cassandra' No. 1 Album

KC Concepcion's debut album now holds the No. 1 spot in Odyssey branches nationwide. Her Sony BMG album titled a.k.a. Cassandra became the top-selling album in a span of just three weeks.

Heart Evangelista when asked about her prominent boobs and butt:"Actually, marami lang kayong napapansin dahil never ko actually na-expose ang sarili ko ng ganito, pero matagal nang ganyan ‘yan."

Richard Gutierrez on being a fight director in Codename: Asero: "This is a stepping stone for me. I'm learning a lot for going through this process. Marami akong natututunan."

Marvin Agustin on Jolina Magdangal: "Nakakatuwa kasi nga it's been a long time na hindi kami nagkasama sa isang TV show, although minsan nagkikita kami sa SOP kapag may mga promo. Pero this time, magkatabi na naman kami at magkatrabaho na talaga."

Shaina Magdayao replaces Bea Alonzo in the horror movie to be directed by Rico Maria Ilarde. This upcoming movie from Star Cinema is topbilled by Jake Cuenca.

Pinoy Idol with Jolina Magdangal!

Jolina Magdangal is off to Italy to shoot the movie that was supposed to star Gabby Concepcion, and her TV show Pinoy Idol debuted this week on Philippine television, with Ogie Alcasid, Raymond Gutierrez, and Wygnard Tracy. It was entertaining, although the original was so much better and more fun to watch, but the quality of TV is improving in the Philippines, thank God.

Also with Yasmien Kurdi, JC de Vera, Marvin Agustin, and:Angelika dela Cruz has returned to GMA. Kung Fu Kids is a great showcase for all of the talented young actors in the Philippines, however, it's a poorly scripted show that is so depressing to watch. But Philippine TV has always been depressing to watch, because most of the stories are so depressing reflecting I suppose the supposedly depressing life of the masses, so I guess, what's the difference?
Love Spell is great and Philippine TV needs more supernatural/horror shows, because that's what Filipinos are really good at making. Sigaw, of which it's American remake will be coming out soon, is a fantastic example.
Palos starring Cesar Montano & Jake Cuenca is obviously an attempted remake of James Bond, but it doesn't work. I've watched it, and some scenes are entertaining, but they should stick to Tagalog. The English dialogue is written well and if you take the words they say and put it on paper, it's really sophisticated, but when you hear the actors and actresses actually say it, it just doesn't click...

Babangon Ako't Dudurugin Kita

Angelika dela Cruz has renegotiated her contract and returned to GMA, the network where she started her career, and is starring in the new suspense-mystery telenovela Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita, based on the classic movie from legendary (and openly gay) Filipino director Lino Brocka, based on the classic novel by Gilda Olvidado and which originally starred megastar Sharon Cuneta. It also stars Marvin Agustin, Yasmien Kurdi, JC de Vera, Tonton Gutierrez, Dina Bonnevie, Paolo Contis, and an all-star cast who were recently on Showbiz Central this past Easter sunday to promote the show.
We'd just like to clarify about what we said before that it's okay to remake Spanish telenovelas and Asian shows, because that's completely common around the world, as well as in the United States, for TV shows from one country to be exported to another, and it happens more often than Filipinos realize, just look at most hit American movies nowadays, they're remakes of movies from other countries in Asia and Latin America, and one can't assume that the Philippines was the only non-American country that grew up with 'Saved By The Bell' or 'Baywatch'. I've always said that Yasmien Kurdi was an extremely talented all around artist since I first got to know her in 2005, and she's a great singer and recording artist as well, with great songs that she wrote herself, which I immediately liked about her and what set her apart from all of the other cute teen bubbly actresses in the Philippines who just come in for 15 minutes to sing their parts, and then the technicians do the rest, and then a CD is released. She took the time to write her melodies and lyrics, and that's what I really liked about her. Her hit single, which reached #1 on the Philippine music charts, "I Know" with special guest star TJ Trinidad, making a cameo in the video, who was then an unknown actor:
