Richard Gutierrez is the newest celebrity sponsor for a brand of skin whitening pills called MET Tathione, also known as Glutathione pills.

"I believe I've been inspirational to other people. Kasi as a celebrity, I have to keep fit, maintain to be healthy and try to look confident and look good for those people that I inspire. MET is a product that can keep me looking good, and confident, and I believe in this product. So, I believe MET can make other people feel confident also," says Richard to the media.
Just as a note towards real life, skin whitening creams are hazardous to your health and can eventually lead to your death, and most celebrities who sponsor skin whitening products were already born with white skin. And brown 'kayumanggi' skin is beautiful too and becoming more accepted, like in this Bench ad for Dingdong Dantes.

Dark Skin in the Philippines

Skin color is a touchy subject among Filipinos. Those who were born with light skin are grateful that they were, and those born without it wish they had. However, what most people don't realize is that dark 'kayumanggi' skin is becoming more accepted in the entertainment industry and is considered beautiful, more now than ever before.

This Filipina woman from New York is married to an American and has a fair skinned child, and she wrote this article from Newsweek because she is wondering whether she should sign him up with a modeling agency. Her resistance to colonial ideals is admirable, but if we're talking about real life, it's not smart if she doesn't sign her son up, because if her son doesn't get the job, another light-skinned Filipino boy or girl will, so why not take advantage of it? I mean seriously, just be realistic.

But she's not being realistic also in saying that light skin is preferred for Filipino men in fashion, because just look at the latest Bench and other modeling pictures and billboards lately, like Dingdong Dantes' latest Bench billboards, and many other billboards in Metro Manila. For men, having dark skin is actually considered sexy now and more required in the entertainment industry in the Philippines for models.
For women it's also changing, as shown by the latest pictures from Preview Magazine with Ruffa Gutierrez, Gretchen Barreto, Claudine, and Judy Ann Santos on the cover.

I don't think people should be so quick to judge unless they've looked at the latest photos, dark kayumanggi skin is in fact becoming more accepted in the Philippines, and that is a positive thing.

I partly don't like this article because I don't like when Filipinos use the word 'Filipino' as if it were a race to refer to only those of brown-skinned Malay descent, as not all Filipinos have brown skin and wide noses, and not all Filipinos were born economically disadvantaged.

Geoff Eigenmann has lost a lot of weight. Since being paired up as a popular love team with Heart Evangelista a few years ago, he grew very fat, but is now back in form and entering the ABS-CBN series 'Lobo' with Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin in the role of Alex Aragon. How did he lose all the weight?

"Puro boxing talaga I've been boxing for about ten months straight now na almost every day. ‘Tapos healthy eating, less oil, all vegetables."

How many pounds did he lose altogether?

"Ah, since I started about ten months ago... I started 190, now I'm 160, so, 30 pounds... pero yung weight loss nangyari lang nung latter months. So, ano naman, for my personal being talaga. ‘Tsaka maintenance na lang siya."

How does he feel about entering Lobo?

"Ah, siyempre very excited. Kasi ako yung naisip nila for that character. Kasi ang sabi pa nila sa akin I'll be parang in a love triangle with Piolo [Pascual] and Angel. So, just being there with those two big names, ano na, parang big thing talaga siya sa akin.

"'Tsaka, actually with this role, ang daming naging complications, e. Kasi nawala siya sa akin after they told me na ako nga yung magiging si Alex Aragon. Nawala siya sa akin kasi I was supposed to leave for the States.

"Una akong in-offer-an about a month ago. Nagkaroon ng complications because I have to leave for the States ng May. May problem sa scheduling. So, what happened was yung alis namin ng May, napaaga. We left last week. I got back last Sunday. Now I'm taping Lobo."

"Naayos na namin lahat ‘yon. So now, I'm back here.

"Actually, nawala yung role sa akin. From Gabby Concepcion, to me, ‘tapos nawala sa akin yung role. So, I still had to audition for the role again.

"Nag-reading pa rin ako. Gusto ko talaga siyang gawin. Inayos talaga namin na makaalis ako earlier for the States at makabalik ako agad. I really wanted to be part of this project. Kaya very happy ako na natupad ko yung gusto kong mangyari and sana nga I do justice to the role. A very big role.

"Kasi si Alex, ano siya sa story, one of the direct descendants of one of the first Lobos in the old days. So, nasa amin yung family lineage and all that. And ako dapat yung chosen one pero ang totoo talaga, si Angel."

How is your love life?

"Still non-existent. Pero happy pa rin. I'm happy living my life on my own. I'm happy with life."

You look like Gabby Concepcion.

"Wow! Flaterring. Siyempre Gabby Concepcion ‘yan, e."

Have they met?

"Yeah, I've already met him. We actually had dinner at my Aunt's [Cherrie Gil] house. Nagka-dinner kami lahat. Some old friends were there, sina Al Tantay, Amy Austria, Gabby was there. He met the family."

Did Geoff talk to Gabby about a possible telserye together?

"Actually, wala. We didn't really get to talk. It was more of a bonding nila, my dad [Michael de Mesa], my aunt, bonding-bonding sila. Kami, we were just there to meet him, welcome him back," pagtatapos ni Geoff. Quotes from PEP

I'll be honest, I don't like Charlene Gonzalez, not that she's not pretty or a good person, but she's just too plain as far as her personality is concerned. She doesn't have charisma. But Dayanara? Well, you and millions of other Filipinos already know the answer to that. To those negative-thinking Pinoys who say that the only reason Dayanara Torres became popular in the Philippines is because of her being a foreigner and for her Caucasian looks, that is ridiculous, because looks can only take you so far in the business, but if Dayanara didn't have the acting talent and charisma and a good heart behind her, the people wouldn't have responded to her in such a manner. Also, just watch her movie, Basta't Kasama Kita with Aga Muhlach, and her acting is fantastic, and that was such a great movie, and she always talks about the Philippines in her interviews with the Spanish language media. Always. Enrique Iglesias' mother is Filipina, but he hardly ever talks about the Philippines, EVER, to the Spanish media, but Dayanara does, she's a truer Pinoy than those two shameful kids, and she doesn't even have Pinoy blood, but she's proud to have worked in the Philippines, and she even started her own charity to give back to the poor in the Philippines, and for that, I love her. Actually, Enrique does talk about it, but only sometimes, but hardly ever.

This is just a lesson to all the parents out there, pride in the Philippines is not something that a person of Filipino descent will automatically grow up with, you have to instill it in them and teach your children to be proud of who they are, and that especially includes, their cultural heritage. If you don't, they end up like Tia Carrere, and thousands of other closet Filipinos growing up in the US, UK, Australia (especially Australia), or wherever out there who are such insecure persons that they have to hide a part of who they are just to try to find acceptance in the world. And you know, people like that will never be happy. Sam Milby, even though he's a nice guy, he is annoying sometimes with all his pretentiousness and he's a horrible actor (yes I watched those baduy movies he did with Bea Alonzo and Toni Gonzaga and I was horribly disappointed and annoyed from all of the bad acting he did that ruined the movies, and I'm not just throwing rocks at glass houses because I grew up in theatre and musical theatre, so I know the difference between good acting and bad acting, and he's a horrible actor, he needs lots of work and training, hehe, however, Bea and Toni are great actresses and are really talented) and he's such a closet case as far other things are concerned, but at least he's proud of being a Filipino.

Dayanara you rock our world.Men's Health magazine opens the year with a big splash as wakeboarding enthusiast Aga Muhlach shares the benefits of staying fit and living right. The former matinee idol talks about the motivation that drove him to succeed in losing 60 pounds: finding something to be passionate about. With that, he took the plunge by getting hooked on the activity that he loved the most—water sports.

Aga, a longtime jetski racer, discovered that passion in the form of wakeboarding. "Any water sport para sa akin is nice. The fact that you go out of town, you leave Manila, that's the best. You're out of this ciudad; out of all this chaos. It's always a date para sa akin when we go out of town: me, my wife, and the kids."

Before, Aga used to weigh 220 pounds because of his year-and-a-half vacation from showbiz work. His much-deserved rest from the business became a liability as he stopped working out and gained unwanted weight. The insecurities he felt affected his social life as he turned down invitation after invitation to dinner parties from friends and the like. To put it simply, he didn't want to be seen.

But all of that is now a thing of the past because the once 220 pound heartthrob is now tipping the scales at 160. The former Bagets star is once again in top form, all of that thanks to a healthy diet, discipline, and wakeboarding.

As Aga would say, "Exercising is really important. You should make it a part of your life already until the day you die. It keeps you young; it gives you that feeling of security. Kahit piso lang ang pera mo but if you feel good and you know you look good, then you're on top of the world."

Like Aga, you can enjoy the world of wakeboarding by following these simple steps to avoid kissing the water bubbles: One, sit still; two, sit comfortably; three, let it happen; and four, grip it. Pilita Corrales Spanish song

The legendary Ms. Pilita Corrales sings in Spanish, Tagalog, and English and shows off her sexy legs all in one song: her duet with Janno Gibbs. Don't we all just love her? She's our bellisima reina de canciones, and still amazingly beautiful at the age of whatever her age is right now, which is ageless, hehe.

I was really happy because I remember that during the Latin American parade last September here in Los Angeles, Philippines was part of it, and it was televised nationally in the US, Latin America, and Spain on the Spanish language TV network Univision, which most Filipinos think, ah it's a Spanish language network, it's not important, actually it is, because regardless of it being in Spanish, it gets higher ratings than most of the major English language networks, last year it was the 3rd highest ranking network in the United States, #1 is ABC, #2 NBC, #3 Univision, and Fox, the CW, and MyTV are #4-6, so a lot of people were watching when the song during the part where Philippines was walking down the parade was a Pilita Corrales song, and the announcer said, "What a beautiful dance the Filipinos have, tan cariñosa, and what a beautiful song." I'm sure Ms. Corrales would be so happy to hear the influence she's still having on the world today.

Thalia Nandito Ako Video

35-year-old Latin Grammy award winning singer Thalia gave birth to a girl Sunday morning in New York after a trying 20 hours in labor. The baby, who weighted 8 lbs 4 oz., will be named Sabrina Sakaë which has two meanings. The first name means "princess", and the second means "prosperity" in Japanese.

"Mother, father and baby Sabrina are all healthy and very happy and will be residing at their ranch in Colorado," the singer's rep said in a statement.
