Claudine Barretto was at the Folded & Hung Fashion Show this weekend as the head celebrity spokesmodel. Claudine was also the celebrity guest of Vicki Belo's TV show on ABS-CBN, Belo Beauty 101. Ms. Belo performed a lyposunction on Claudine to reduce her fat after giving birth to her baby. Claudine also had plastic surgery done on her breasts and got a breast reduction. Angel Locsin Claudine Barretto feud

Claudine Barretto and Angel Locsin were reported to be feuding, but at the recent Folded & Hung press con, Claudine says to leave Angel alone when asked about the rumors that Angel decided to bow out of the fashion show to avoid Claudine.

"Wala na yun...huwag na nating intrigahin kasi, wala siya rito. Hindi naman fair for her."

What about the intrigues that she's about to be dropped from representing the prestigous brand?

"Mga kaibigan ko ‘yan, wala pa ‘ko sa showbiz. Talagang yung pinagsamahan namin, matagal na. We grew up together. Maliit pa ang Folded & Hung, hindi pa ganito, hanggang sa paglaki pa. Loyal akong tao. Mas maganda yung dumarami [ang mga kaibigan] kesa sa kumokonti."

Angel backed out of the fashion show, and said that Claudine Barretto is choosy.

"Okay na po lahat. Matagal na ring naayos and ako po, nirerespeto ko siya. Pareho kaming hindi nagsalita sa issue noon bilang isang lady at hanggang ngayon, ganun pa rin po ang aking stand."

"Wala po talagang iwasang nangyari. Ang arte-arte ko naman kung iiwas-iwas pa ako, ako pa ang choosy, e, Claudine Barretto ‘yan."

Bea Alonzo, Jake only friends

Bea and Jake:"Kaibigan ko si Bea and I can say na suwerte ako na kaibigan ko siya. It's true na lumalabas kami, masaya kami ‘pag magkasama kami, pero magkaibigan lang talaga kami," says Jake Cuenca about the real score between him and Bea Alonzo.

"It's a friendship na mahirap matagpuan sa show business, something that I will be thankful all my life because nakakita ako ng someone who really cares for me and there's nothing wrong with it," says Bea Alonzo about her friendship with Jake Cuenca.

Dingdong Dantes will film his TV special for E! Entertainment's Sexiest Men of the World. Meanwhile, Dyesebel continues as the #1 rating program in the Philippines.

Rafael Rosell: "I appreciate their concern. Pero, more than anything, it's the friendship that we have established as a group. Hindi ko basta ipagpapalit yun. Hindi naman ako forever na nasa Coverboys, and there will come a time that I have to go to the next level," replies Rafael Rosell to the convincing of some people concerned about the growth of his career.

Claudine: "It's just that parang ang dami-dami na namin. I just needed extra care, extra backup. Like another road manager, dagdag lang for myself lang, for my schedule; ‘tapos publicist, yung ganun lang. Pero yung iiwan ang Star Magic, hindi," explains Claudine Barretto about a report saying that she is planning to move out from Star Magic.

Sarah Geronimo: "What I've observed is that in this business, there is a lot of pressure to fit in," Sarah muses, "I'm not going to deny that the peer pressure hasn't affected me emotionally and mentally, but I've decided that I don't have to mind whatever everyone else is doing. I can't pretend I have more to give than I really have," says Sarah Geronimo.

Vina: "Nasa edad na si Vina para magdesisyon for herself. Bea Alonzo hopes John Lloyd Cruz will be her leading man in Betty La Fea: "But I really hope na siya pa rin. I'm hoping na kung hindi man si John Lloyd, isang magaling na actor will play Armando. But it will be nice kung siya pa rin kasi mas kaunti na yung adjustments."

Dark Skin in the Philippines

Skin color is a touchy subject among Filipinos. Those who were born with light skin are grateful that they were, and those born without it wish they had. However, what most people don't realize is that dark 'kayumanggi' skin is becoming more accepted in the entertainment industry and is considered beautiful, more now than ever before.

This Filipina woman from New York is married to an American and has a fair skinned child, and she wrote this article from Newsweek because she is wondering whether she should sign him up with a modeling agency. Her resistance to colonial ideals is admirable, but if we're talking about real life, it's not smart if she doesn't sign her son up, because if her son doesn't get the job, another light-skinned Filipino boy or girl will, so why not take advantage of it? I mean seriously, just be realistic.

But she's not being realistic also in saying that light skin is preferred for Filipino men in fashion, because just look at the latest Bench and other modeling pictures and billboards lately, like Dingdong Dantes' latest Bench billboards, and many other billboards in Metro Manila. For men, having dark skin is actually considered sexy now and more required in the entertainment industry in the Philippines for models.
For women it's also changing, as shown by the latest pictures from Preview Magazine with Ruffa Gutierrez, Gretchen Barreto, Claudine, and Judy Ann Santos on the cover.

I don't think people should be so quick to judge unless they've looked at the latest photos, dark kayumanggi skin is in fact becoming more accepted in the Philippines, and that is a positive thing.

I partly don't like this article because I don't like when Filipinos use the word 'Filipino' as if it were a race to refer to only those of brown-skinned Malay descent, as not all Filipinos have brown skin and wide noses, and not all Filipinos were born economically disadvantaged.
