Cosmopolitan 2008 Male Centerfolds

Billy Crawford is one of Cosmopolitan's 2008 Male Centerfolds, and Billy is a great TV host. He's so funny, and he has the gift that whatever words that come out of his mouth are never boring or tripe, they're always smart and funny, and I hope he gets more hosting jobs or perhaps his own TV show in the future (when he comes back from promoting his next album) where he gets to just be himself.

The thing is that before, he would always get dance shows and the only thing he would do was performances at SOP, but they didn't realize that besides his musical talent, he has this great personality that people are really drawn to, he really should've done more hosting at GMA, and it's good that he has Uber and Pinoy Dream Academy now to just let his natural exuberance and sparkling personality flow. And hopefully, it won't be the last.

Pinoy Big Brother's grand winner is Ejay Falcon from Mindoro. The finale was held earlier tonight, June 7, at the Araneta Coliseum. The secret of Pinoy Big Brother is that there's really no secret as to who's ever going to win this show. Always just know that if any Pinoy is from overseas, they're not going to win, because there's too much crab mentality in the Philippines to let someone who is perceived to be 'sosyal' (i.e. the PBB contestants raised overseas) win. It's just a given fact, just look at the previous PBB winners, none of them were raised outside of the Philippines as well, and those who were were often eliminated first and never end up in the finals, so in the end, it's always kind of pointless to bring them in the show in the first place except to exploit the 'glamour' that they bring from being raised outside the Philippines, which ABS-CBN fully exploited from the beginning: "Spanish stallion" (even though Kevin's dad is Filipino, and his mom is Irish), "Italian lover" or whatever, the girl from Holland, which also perpuates the worship of all things foreign in the Philippines. Whether those perceptions and stereotypes of Filipinos raised outside the Philippines as being 'sosyal' or having tons of money are true is another matter...

TV Ratings Dyesebel My Girl

Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus stirred the primetime race a little bit during the last few days of the ABS-CBN reality show. The two-week old My Girl, on the other hand, seems to have lost its steam immediately as its ratings dropped considerably.

Smallville is in it's seventh season, and has become even more fun to watch since 'Supergirl' entered the story. Lex Luther just found out that the new blond girl, who's Clark's 'cousin', has special powers.

PBB Teen Edition Plus placed fifth overall Tuesday (June 3) with 26.6 percent and Thursday (June 5) with 24.8 percent. On Wednesday, June 4, it managed to grab the fourth spot from perennial fourth placer 24 Oras. PBB got 28.1 percent while 24 Oras received 28 percent.

Tomorrow night, June 6, it will finally be revealed who among Beauty, Ejay, Nicole, and Robi would be the Big Winner in a live presentation at the Araneta Coliseum.

Meanwhile, after an impressive debut, My Girl dropped to No. 6 last Tuesday (23.6 percent), No. 8 Wednesday (23.2 percent), and No. 7 Thursday (20.9 percent—its lowest rating so far).

Dyesebel is still the undisputed No. 1 primetime program while also maintaining a 40-plus rating this week.

Joaquin Bordado and Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita also maintained their standing as the second and third most-watched primetime shows.

Lobo, on the other hand, improved its status as it consistently held on to the No. 6 position; along with Pinoy Idol Extra at No. 9.

In the daytime race, Magdusa Ka took the lead Tuesday and Wednesday, but Daisy Siete managed to grab it Thursday.

Here are the comparative TV ratings of ABS-CBN and GMA-7 shows from June 3 to 5 based on the overnight ratings conducted by AGB Nielsen Philippines among Mega Manila households:

My Girl Remake: Kim Chiu & Gerald Anderson

Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson will star in 'My Girl', an upcoming telenovela produced by ABS-CBN. It is a remake of the SBS Koreanovela of the same title which was also aired in the Philippines

In preparation for the role first portrayed by Dante Rivero, Diether Ocampo opted not to watch the 1977 film so that he would be able to give his own interpretation of the character of Hector. He is the pediatrician who becomes attracted to Angela (Claudine).

Rafael Rosell was hailed as the Best Supporting Actor in the 2007 Gawad Urian Awards for his role in the indie film Rome and Juliet. Rafael is quick to express his joy and gratitude for his latest mainstream project. "I really feel that ABS-CBN really believes in my career as an actor."

In Maligno, he portrays a strange painter who is obsessed with Angela (Claudine). As Lucas Santander, he turns out to be the man destined in a prophecy to be the father of the devil's son.

Gerald Anderson says of his latest project: "[I'm] very, very privileged and thankful because this is my first time to do horror, it's our first mature role and I'm very happy and privileged to work with people like Ms. Claudine and Diet. So very happy po, very happy." PEP

I just want to say that Kevin's last name is Garcia, not Flood, so his name should be written as Kevin Garcia, not Kevin Flood as other Pinoys and even ABS-CBN have written on the web. His last name, if you put it in American naming standards is Garcia, because that is his father's surname. His full name is Kevin Brendan Garcia Flood, Garcia is his Filipino father's surname, Flood is his Irish mother's surname, because Spanish naming customs are that the father's surname is before the mother's. But uneducated people in the media wrote his last name as Flood, even on official websites, publications, and newspapers. The same name confusion happened with Marian Rivera, until I fixed it of course on Wikipedia and via this blog. Her father's surname is Gracia, so her real full name written in her birth certificate would be Marian Gracia Rivera, not Marian Rivera Gracia as was written by most of the uneducated Philippine media.

Philippine Naming System
The Philippines used this traditional Spanish naming system until the country was colonized by the American government, after which the Anglo naming system was used which continues to this day, and many are so uneducated about the names of their own ancestors due to the education system in the Philippines that doesn't even teach something as important as this. Education in the Philippines...
