Las Tontas No Van Al Cielo (Clumsy Girls Don't Go To Heaven) debuted on ABS-CBN yesterday. The hit mexicanovela starring Jacqueline Bracamonte of Rubi fame, Jaime Camil, and Valentino Lanus airs weekdays after El Cuerpo del Deseo.
The hit comedy-telenovela is still airing in Mexico, and is the 2nd highest rating primetime TV series in the country next to Fuego en la sangre, the Mexican remake of Colombia's Pasion de Amor. The Philippines is getting an exclusive, because this show has not even aired yet in the US, Spain, Asia, and most parts of Latin America.
Without Breasts There Is No Paradise, the American adaptation of the hit Colombian telenovela 'Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso' (Without Tits There Is No Paradise) based on the best selling critically-acclaimed novel of the same title, debuted last night on NBC-Telemundo as 'Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso' in the United States, with an upcoming English language version planned for NBC, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised.
Most Telemundo telenovelas, except for Pasion de Amor, are crap, and on the first episode, they overload you with too much drama, they just jump right into it, and it's so stressful to watch! But this novela was perfect. It's taking the time to build up the story, and I love shows like that. I can't stand watching shows, like many Pinoy programs, that bombard you with drama on the first episode. They should take time to build the story, and build the characters first, and spend a few days in their normal lives, before shoving the drama down the audience's throat, and that's what this program is doing, and I love it. I just love it. And it's authentic in that they set the story and filmed it in Colombia.
And I'm pretty sure that when the English language version debuts on NBC in 2009, the Philippines will be buzzing all over this when it's exported there. But you heard it here on Filipino Cultured first because that's way we roll, hehe. However, based on how the MTRCB reacts to sensitive issues, I have a feeling it might be banned.
Betty La Fea starring Bea Alonzo is debuting soon, and the only thing the world should be doing right now is thanking Colombia for these great TV shows. And I love Colombians, they're among the nicest Spanish speaking people I ever met in my life. A few of my best friends are Colombian.
Thalia and Fernando Carrillo return tomorrow via Rosalinda, on Telefutura at 4pm tomorrow nationwide in the USA! The first chapter will debut tomorrow, and replace 'Por Un Beso' which ended today with Spanish subtitles on CC1. It's a spectacular TV afternoon now, with Rosalinda at 4, La Usurpadora with Gaby Spanic at 5, and La Marca del Deseo at 6 with Pasion de Amor star Alfonso Baptista. All fantastic shows.
Rosalinda continues to air in the Philippines weekdays at 8pm on QTV.
Gabby Concepcion is on the cover of Star Studio magazine for May 2008, available at all National Bookstores nationwide!
Anne Curtis in a bikini, Jon Avila shirtless, and Gabby's ex-wife Sharon Cuneta and daughter KC Concepcion are also featured in the issue. Gabby reportedly earned 40,000 pesos to pose for the May cover.
Priscilla Meirelles, Miss Earth 2004 and Brazilian girlfriend of John Estrada and Marianne del Rio, up and coming Filipina model and actress (right), are also featured in the issue.
La Usurpadora starring Gabriela Spanic was a massive hit in the Philippines, so much so it was shown a total of three times, the first time on RPN, and twice consecutively as 'Paulina' on GMA7.
Gaby even visited the Philippines in 2000, performed a concert, & was flirted with by Robin Padilla. And in a grand encore, the worldwide hit TV show is being re-aired and coming back to television tomorrow.
Many people say that 'La Usurpadora' was the basis for the GMA7 program 'Impostora' because of it's many similarities.

Kamandag starring Richard Gutierrez retains #1 lead in TV ratings as the show comes to an end in it's last week.
Some say that telenovelas are no longer popular in the Philippines and that Asianovelas have replaced them, but the Nielsen ratings say the complete opposite as El Cuerpo del Deseo maintains it's lead as the country's highest rating non-Filipino daytime series, as well as ABS-CBN's highest rating daytime series getting higher ratings than the asianovela Hana Kimi, which hasn't even entered the Top 10 yet, Princesa ng Banyera, Da Big Show, Sis, & Boy and Kris.
Mario Cimarro won the FAMAS Award in the US for Best Actor for his role in 'El Cuerpo del Deseo.' A lot of Philippine newspapers describe him as a 'Mexican actor', but he's actually Cuban, like Ricky Ricardo, hehe.
