El Cuerpo del Deseo (Body of Desire) has only been airing for a week now in the Philippines, weekdays on ABS-CBN, and it's already one of the top 10 most watched shows in the country, getting higher ratings than even the locally produced shows Sis, Boy & Kris, and Princesa ng Banyera (see ratings below). It is also currently the highest rating daytime teleserye for ABS-CBN, and the third highest rating daytime TV program for ABS-CBN just under Wowowee and Pilipinas GKNB. In other words, it's a hit and crucial for ABS-CBN's daytime ratings, so for fans of this show, no need to worry because this will probably be shown until the end. The telenovela is produced by American company NBC-Telemundo, in other words, when Pinoys call it a mexicanovela, that's actually incorrect, since it's not from Mexico, it's from NBC located in the United States, and was filmed in Colombia. It stars Mario Cimarro from Pasion de Amor and Gata Salvaje fame, and Lorena Rojas, who are both currently starring right now in their own telenovelas that are still in production this second, La Traicion filmed in Colombia and Pecados Ajenos filmed in Miami, and airing everyday on Telemundo, and I hope you guys are enjoying it because this was one of my favorite telenovelas of all time, and I watched it every single day when it was shown here in the US on Telemundo. I liked it because it was so mysterious and elegant as well. And it wasn't like other novelas where everyone is shouting at each other all the time, it's almost like a British series, there's a mystery to be solved, and everyone's speaking in soft, mysterious voices. And it was a really fantastic telenovela. Mario Cimarro won the prestigious Orquia Awards with Gabriela Spanic, as well as the FAMAS Award for his performance in the novela. Watch the El Cuerpo del Deseo Opening Credits not shown in the Philippines with Lorena Rojas in bikini and where they almost show Mario Cimarro's you know what in the scene where he was swimming at the beach with 'Isabel' and he takes off his swim shorts and throws it on the sand and ends up completely naked in the water:
I just love this song, isn't it such a great song?
I've been watching the Tagalog dubbed version, and I just love watching any type of show dubbed in Tagalog, because the dubbers in the Philippines are so talented. Pinoys make jokes that it's not in sync, but you should be grateful that the voices are dubbed, because in many European countries and other countries around the world, they don't even have actors come in and dub it, they just have ONE translator translate the dialogue on cue, so even if it's a woman's voice or a little girl's voice, it's always an older man's voice that's saying it, because they only hire one person to dub the entire novela! And they don't mute the original, so it's like you're listening to two voices at once, the original dialogue, and the man who's translating it on queue, it's horrible. It's a big mess. And that one man does ALL the voices, little kids, women, men, younger teenagers, it's just one old-sounding man, can you imagine watching a show like that? There's no personality to it. They do such a good job of dubbing TV shows in the Philippines, they give such character and meaning to the story in the way they dub the voices, and I know because I've watched many Spanish telenovelas and Asian series in the original language, then I come home and see it on Philippine TV, and it's absolutely amazing that they find a way to make it Pinoy and localize it and make it apply in the Tagalog language, it's such a smooth transition, and they really should give the dubbers awards for it, because it's amazing, I'm telling you. Pinoys should be more grateful to the dubbers who do such a great job. Cuban actor Mario Cimarro speaks to the audience after receiving the Best Actor award at the FAMA awards in Miami, Florida.
