What I've noticed that they do in Latin American television is that they have sexy shows that gain ratings by tickling people's fantasies, without being vulgar about it. American shows can't do that, they tend to get vulgar, and this is something that Philippine television hasn't been able to do either, because in the Philippines, if something is sexy, then more often than not, it becomes vulgar and unsuitable for general audiences and banned by the MTRCB, and becomes "bold", but if something is geared towards a general audience, like most shows from 7-10 pm on the two Filipino networks, then it becomes so wholesome and virginal that it's just like watching a children's show, then it becomes boring, and what fun is that for a general adult audience that outgrew watching children's shows when they stopped being children? Not that I think that Philippine television should generally be compared with TV from other countries, because Philippine TV is unique in itself, but sometimes it's a good idea when general audience TV shows start looking ridiculous as if they're made for children only. For example, I was like, what the hell is this Zaido or Lastikman? They look like barata versions of the Transformers cartoons, might as well just watch a cartoon. The Philippines sort of achieved the balance that television in other countries have been able to achieve with Marimar in the Philippines, where they made it sort of sexy and fun without it being vulgar, and I think it will continue with Dyesebel, so I think we're heading towards a good place in Philippine television.
